The Arizona Black Film Showcase, (AZBFS), founded in 2001 by community leader and business professional, Joanna de’Shay, is a program of The Leadership Consortium (TLC) a 501(c)3 organization, whose mission is to identify, recruit, support and retain leaders of color. This annual, competitive film showcase is dedicated to supporting, celebrating and promoting the dynamic works of Black filmmakers locally and nationally. The Showcase solicits independent feature film entries created for under $1,000,000. Additionally, the Showcase provides Black directors, writers, producers, actors and other industry talent a forum to network and share in their cinematic experiences.
The Arizona Black Film Showcase is a world-class event that brings world class talent such as Wayne Brady, Lynn Whitfield, Hill Harper, Bill Duke (A Rage In Harlem, Sister Act II), Lee Daniels (Precious, Shadowboxer, Monsters Ball, The Woodsman), Ehrich Van Lowe, of “The Cosby Show, Michael Stradford, vice president, Columbia Tri-Star DVD Divisions, and many more.
